CAA

Holiday Gift

For over a decade of holidays, the CAA Foundation has donated philanthropic gifts in their entertainment clients’ names to help make positive change in the world. In 2013, CAA focused its efforts on STEAM, a program promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math education by donating 50 ‘Little Bits’ technology circuit kits to schools. The objective of the project was to present and explain the program, create an emotional experience, and build a tangible keepsake as a reminder of their generous gift to STEAM.

I designed the STEAM logo, constructing each letter of iconography from science, technology, engineering, art and math. To present the program, I created a cast of characters – miniature robots named STEAMbots. Foil stamped details brought the bots to life. Mad Sciencebot Sam delighted with beakers and electricity. Artbot flew using a spray jet pack. Mathilda Mathbot calculated with her buttons and graphs. Discovery being such a big component, I aimed to bring exploration, wonder and a child-like playfulness to the gift's design.
